Abstract
This paper describes the practical development of compact antenna arrays to support the investigation of MIMO systems exploiting ionosheric propagation in the HF band. Three candidate arrays have been developed for receiver applications based on active electronics to provide broadband non-tuned operation with electrically small receiving elements. A crossed resonant loop is under development for use as a transmitting antenna. Transmission results demonstrating the operation of the antennas is included.
