Loading of selected sites in an optical lattice using light-shift engineering.

Griffin, P.F. and Weatherill, K.J. and Macleod, S.G. and Potvliege, R.M. and Adams, C.S. (2005) 'Loading of selected sites in an optical lattice using light-shift engineering.', in Laser spectroscopy : XVII International Conference of Laser Spectroscopy ; proceedings. , pp. 307-314.

We report on a method of light–shift engineering where an additional laser is used to tune the energy of an excited atomic state. We show that the technique can be used to enhance the loading of a deep optical lattice or selectively load specific sites in a lattice.
