We have calculated the structural and electronic properties of small non-stochiometric HgTe quantum dots using first principles methods within the density functional formalism. We find that the relaxed structures of various dots, such as Hg13Te16 and Hg16Te19 are in the Td symmetry group, whereas others such as Hg16Te13, Hg19Te16, Hg19Te28 and Hg28Te19 form clusters of lowers symmetries.
