Abstract
Catherine Gamble and colleagues consider the challenges inherent in the nurse consultant’s research remit. Outcomes are presented from two workshops that gathered nurse consultants’ views on research expectations. These suggest that while there is enthusiasm for the development of such activities, differing priorities may limit substantial progress.
