Abstract

This paper gives an historical account of the first steps towards the computerization of the South Etruria survey data prior to the current Leverhulme project. Preliminary analysis of the quality of the data was undertaken, together with some preliminary interpretation. On this basis, various papers reviewing the data were written. Some of the authors of this preliminary work have been engaged more recently in a fieldwork investigation of the Nepi area, partly within the larger area of the South Etruria survey, in order to produce a further assessment of data quality from the ground itself.
